Hiking Flashback - Ricket's Glenn

I just needed a bit of a pick me up post...so here is a stroll down memory lane with my sweetie.  I love hiking, especially with Jeffrey.  He is so nice and comfy to be with...

It's more fun to talk to someone who doesn't use long difficult words but rather short easy words like, "What's for lunch?"  A.A. Milne - Winnie the Pooh

Friendship is born that moment when one person says to another, "What! You too?  I thought I was the only one."  C.S. Lewis

More Kitties

Eli and Laura made a kitty play ground out of some cardboard boxes.  They love it, as you can see!
(both the kittens and the kids)

The kids take 'recess breaks' throughout the day...that consist of playing with the kittens, trips to the barn to do chores and feed the bottle lambs, time to run around outside or hop in the hot tub for a soak. Or if cousin Weaver stops in for a visit we take time to play with him! Laura exclaims nearly daily.....that she loves being homeschooled!  We are blessed.

Folded Star Trivit

Just a little project for evenings...something that is new and a bit of a challenge, for the simple seamstress that I am...I found the directions at www.paternbee.com.  Thanks Pattern Bee!

Now I just need to trim it up a bit, which is not in the directions - oops, and then bind it in red.

My Baker

Here's the Bread!

Here's the Bread Baker!

She is now stiring up chocolate cupcakes.
Can you see the yummy bread in the oven?

Emma loves to bake bread, make cakes, cupcakes, and other yummies.  Thanks Emma!

Making Rootbeer

What are you two up to over there?

Laura requested a root beer kit from her Mimi for Christmas...Laura with the help of her side kick Eli, made a batch.

Cleaning out the bottles

Mixing just the right ingredients in just the right amounts

Stirring it up!

Adding sugar!!

Letting it get fizzy! This was the hardest part, waiting for a taste.
It turned out pretty good...very sweet I heard!  And it is, of course, all gone already!

Owl Love

Owl by Laura

Owl by Sarah

I love owls...here are two new arrivals in the house...a doodle owl by Laura and a crocheted owl by Sarah....aren't they both lovely and full of character.

More Valentine's Day

My girls surprised me with a homemade card, and a box with two pair of earrings inside!
Thanks Emma and Laura...! I guess I don't have a picture of the earrings, one pair is in my ears and the other is upstairs waiting for another day. I got a hug from Dayton, pretty special coming from a busy 22 year old college student. Jeff got me a lovely card, candy , and tea...what more could a girl want. My sister made me a lovely homemade card!

We learned a song in Sunday school many years ago called Put On Love Everyday....goes something like this...I think

Put on love everyday
Never hide your love away
Don't save love for a special day
Put on love everyday....

So that is my goal to put on love everyday!
But it is good to have one extra special love day!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

A Valentine Gift from God awaits us through this door~

Simple Joys of home and hearth

Simple Joys

Oh, give me the simple joys

That truly make life sweet,

Home and hearth and loved ones,

A pet beside one’s feet…

The sound of lovely music,

A cup of fragrant tea,

A walk through primrose paths

In a greening country lea…

A good book at the bedside,

A friend that’s ever true,

The warming days of summer,

The autumn’s vibrant view…

Oh, five me the simple joys,

And I’ll not ask for more

For in them lies great happiness,

Within and by my door.

I love this poem....how about you?

Here are a few cozy things around the house...a dish towel that Laura embroidered (she's my apple pie baker), a kitty on the couch, and a new colorful pillow I stitched up, owl gifts that I love and a gift from a Korean business man, and pretty winter lights and decorations.  I hope your home is cozy too.
